digital desk, New Delhi. Dr Rajeev Behl has been appointed as the new Director General and Secretary of Health Research, Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), replacing Dr Balram Bhargava.
The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet on Friday gave its approval to the name of Bahl, who currently heads the Maternal, Neonatal and Adolescent Health Co-Newborn Unit in Maternal Neonatal Child and Adolescent Health at the World Health Organisation.
Before joining the WHO in 2003, Bahl was a senior scientist at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences for 10 years.
He will hold the post for a period of three years from the date of assuming office or until further orders, whichever is earlier, an official statement said.
