Digital Desk, New Delhi. Delhi Police on Friday took Anjali’s friend Nidhi to Sultanpuri police station to include her in the investigation. Anjali died in the early hours of January 1 after being dragged by a car for about 12 km. The police have called them to join the investigation, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Harendra Kumar Singh told IANS.

The police, however, clarified that Nidhi has neither been detained nor arrested. Singh told IANS, there are reports that Nidhi has been arrested by the police. It is clarified here that he has been called by the police to join the investigation.

An official said that a police team has brought Nidhi to join the probe. He said that the complete timeline of the incident and the statements of the accused and eyewitnesses are being verified as a part of the investigation.

Earlier, the police had recorded Nidhi’s statement under section 164 of the CrPC. She was with Anjali when this incident happened that night. The police have arrested six accused Ashutosh, Deepak Khanna, Amit Khanna, Krishna, Mithun and Manoj Mittal.

Meanwhile, sources also claimed that one of the accused, Deepak Khanna, was actually at home the entire day and the other accused asked him to take the blame as he was the only person with a driving license.

Deepak also brought his uncle’s auto rickshaw to take the accused to his house. A CCTV footage is also going viral on social media, in which it can be seen that after handing over the car to Ashutosh, the accused Deepak left in an auto rickshaw on the night of the incident, but the driver’s face is not clear in the video.
